Understanding Treatment Resistance in BRAF-Mutated Colorectal Cancer

This study looks at why some people with a specific type of colorectal cancer (BRAF V600E-mutated) stop responding to targeted drugs over time. Researchers will take small tissue samples before and during your treatment with anti-EGFR antibody and BRAF inhibitor to understand resistance and help improve future treatments.

Who can take part

  • Diagnosed with colorectal cancer that cannot be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of your body (metastatic)
  • Your cancer must have a specific genetic mutation called BRAF V600E
  • Planning to start treatment with a combination of anti-EGFR antibody and BRAF inhibitor drugs
  • At least one tumor that can be safely biopsied (a small tissue sample taken for testing)
  • Good enough overall health to tolerate the study (ECOG score 0–2, meaning able to do light activity or self-care)
  • Expected to live at least 3 months, age 18 or older, and able to give written consent
