Heart valve changes in atrial fibrillation patients

Who can take part

  • You have atrial fibrillation (either occasional episodes or ongoing) or a normal heart with no history of atrial fibrillation
  • You're scheduled for an ultrasound of your heart (echocardiogram) before or around the time of a heart rhythm procedure
  • Your heart rate is stable during the ultrasound (averaging 110 beats per minute or less)
  • You have not had prior ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation
  • Your ultrasound images are clear enough for analysis
  • You don't have moderate-to-severe leaking of the tricuspid valve, or moderate leaking of left-side heart valves
