Collecting Spinal Fluid from Advanced Breast Cancer Patients

This study collects spinal fluid samples from people with advanced (metastatic) HER2-positive or triple-negative breast cancer who have never had, and currently do not have, cancer spread to the brain. Researchers want to understand how cancer cells might reach the nervous system and develop better treatments.

Who can take part
- Pathology-confirmed diagnosis of HER2-positive breast cancer OR triple-negative breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast
- No prior history and no current signs of cancer spread to the brain (confirmed by MRI scan)
- Age 18 or older
- Able to safely undergo a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) and brain MRI
- Kidney function within acceptable limits (measured by creatinine blood test)
- Able to understand and sign informed consent
