Who can take part
- Age 18–80 years old
- Recent first-time STEMI (heart attack with ST-segment elevation) diagnosed within the last 12 hours
- Successfully treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (emergency angioplasty) with good blood flow restored
- Heart function (LVEF) of 40% or higher
- Able to complete 6 months of treatment and cardiac MRI imaging
- Not currently taking nicorandil, other Chinese patent medicines, or herbal decoctions
