Wearable Device to Predict Surgery Risk in Older Adults

Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older
  • You are having planned, non-emergency surgery that is not heart surgery
  • Your surgeon has determined you are healthy enough for general anesthesia (knocked out completely)
  • You will have a breathing tube placed during surgery
  • You can wear a wrist accelerometer (like a fitness tracker) for several days
  • You do not have conditions like Parkinson's disease, severe blood vessel disease, or irregular heart rhythms that would interfere with the measurements
