Who can take part

  • You are 65 years old or older
  • You are scheduled for planned (elective) non-heart surgery under general anesthesia with a breathing tube
  • Your overall health status is classified as mild to moderate (ASA I–III)
  • You can have your blood pressure measured accurately on your upper arm
  • You do not have severe problems with blood vessels in your legs or arms
  • You are able to understand the study and give written consent (or have a legal guardian who can)
