  • You are scheduled for or have recently had major surgery (a significant surgical procedure)
  • You are 18 years old or older, or a child whose parent/guardian consents
  • Your surgery is either planned in advance (elective) or urgent/emergency
  • You are being treated at this hospital, either as an outpatient or admitted patient
  • You will remain under care at this hospital and not be transferred elsewhere during the study period
