  • Child patient aged from birth to 16 years old
  • Injury happened within the last 24 hours before arriving at the emergency department
  • Injury is serious enough that the child needs hospital care (not minor injuries treated and sent home)
  • Child came directly to this hospital's emergency department (not transferred from another hospital)
  • Legal guardian or parent stays with the child throughout the hospital stay and agrees to treatment
