This study tests whether giving thyroid hormone (thyroxine) helps very small babies born early who have slightly elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. The goal is to see if this treatment improves growth and development in these at-risk infants.

Who can take part
- Your baby was born very small (under 1500 grams / about 3.3 pounds) and smaller than expected for their gestational age
- Your baby was admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) within the first 7 days of life
- Your baby had a TSH blood test during their first or second week of life showing a level between 6–20 mIU/mL
- Your baby does not have congenital hypothyroidism (a condition where the thyroid doesn't work from birth) with very high TSH above 20
- Your baby has not had a severe type of bleeding in the brain (Grade III or IV intraventricular hemorrhage) in the first 2 weeks
- You are able and willing to provide written consent for your baby to participate
