Who can take part

  • Diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (a type of cancer) of the esophagus or where it meets the stomach
  • Cancer is locally advanced (stage IIA, IIB, III, or IVA) and can potentially be removed by surgery
  • Eligible and willing to receive standard chemotherapy (FLOT regimen) before surgery
  • Age 18 or older with good enough overall health to handle chemotherapy and surgery
  • No prior cancer of the esophagus or stomach
  • Normal or near-normal liver and kidney function
