Who can take part
- You are male and have been diagnosed with benign prostate enlargement (BPH)
- You have severe urinary symptoms (difficulty urinating, weak stream, frequent trips to bathroom) that scored 20 or higher on a symptom scale
- Your urine flow rate is very weak (10 mL/s or less) when you urinate
- Your prostate is large—over 100 mL in size, confirmed by ultrasound
- Medications for BPH haven't worked well enough, and your doctor thinks you need surgery
- You have no history of prostate cancer, previous prostate or urethral surgery, or pelvic radiation therapy
