New stent for children with heart vessel narrowing

Who can take part

  • Child must be under 9 years old at the time of the procedure
  • Child has hemodynamically significant narrowing (significant enough to affect blood flow) in the aorta or pulmonary artery that needs catheter-based treatment
  • The narrowing must be suitable for stent placement based on imaging and the cardiologist's assessment
  • Parent or legal guardian must provide written informed consent
  • Child's doctor has determined that catheter-based intervention is medically necessary
  • Child cannot have had a previous stent placed in the same blood vessel
