Who can take part
- Single new liver cancer tumor that is 8 cm or smaller in diameter
- Liver function tests show mild disease (Child-Pugh B7 or better) with no or controlled fluid buildup in the abdomen
- Blood counts are adequate: platelets ≥50, hemoglobin ≥80, neutrophils ≥1.0
- No spread of cancer to multiple liver spots, blood vessels, or other organs
- No prior liver cancer treatment in the last 2 years (or prior treatment was curative, in a different part of the liver, and >2 years ago)
- No prior radiation to the abdomen, and at least 18 years old with ability to consent
