Quercetin for telomere biology disorders
Treatments studied
Part of Blood & lymphatic, Genetic & congenital, Skin clinical trials.
This study tests whether a natural supplement called quercetin can help people with dyskeratosis congenita or other telomere biology disorders. These are rare conditions where cells have unusually short telomeres (protective caps on chromosomes), which can affect bone marrow and increase cancer risk.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- Confirmed diagnosis of dyskeratosis congenita or a telomere biology disorder, shown by either very short telomeres in blood cells or a specific genetic mutation
- At least 2 years old (first 3 patients enrolled must be at least 10 years old)
- Able to swallow medication by mouth
- No serious kidney, liver, or blood cell problems at the time of enrollment
- Not currently taking quercetin, antioxidant supplements, androgen therapy, or certain other medications
- Not pregnant, breastfeeding, or at risk of pregnancy without reliable birth control

This trial tests a nucleoside therapy (dC/dT) for people with telomere biology disorders, which cause premature aging and problems like low blood counts, lung or liver issues. The goal is to see if the treatment can help manage these symptoms.
This Phase 2 trial tests a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant approach to restore bone marrow function and immune function in people with certain inherited immune problems. If you have one of these conditions and a suitable donor, the study may offer a path to rebuild blood and immune systems.
This trial tests if the supplement quercetin can help patients with XIAP deficiency (an immune condition affecting the body's ability to control cell death and inflammation). It is given as a pill or liquid and might reduce inflammation-related symptoms.
This trial tests whether taking quercetin, a natural supplement, can help people with fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (a group of conditions that cause scarring in the lungs). If you have been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) or another fibrotic ILD and are on standard treatments, you may be able to join.
This study tests whether two medicines (dasatinib and quercetin) can affect “cell aging” in people with chronic kidney disease related to diabetes. You may be asked to take pills for a short period and complete follow-up visits to measure how your body responds.
This trial tests whether a natural plant compound called quercetin can improve markers of heart health and metabolism in healthy adults. It involves taking a quercetin supplement for a period of time.
