  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for planned heart bypass surgery (CABG) through a chest incision using an artery graft
  • You can understand and sign consent forms before surgery
  • You can rate your pain on a 0–10 scale before and after surgery
  • You do not have an allergy to bupivacaine (a common numbing drug)
  • You are not in another research study that tests a treatment
