Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)—meaning your heart's pumping strength is 35% or lower
  • You are referred to and enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation (heart rehab program) but have not yet attended your first session
  • You are able and willing to follow the study instructions and can sign an informed consent form
  • You do not have a terminal illness or serious condition expected to limit your survival
  • You do not have end-stage kidney disease
  • You do not currently use more than 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil per day and are willing to incorporate it into your diet
