Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 60 years old.
  • You live at an elevation below 1,000 meters (about 3,280 feet).
  • You are generally healthy with no major medical conditions (like heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, or chronic headaches).
  • You do not smoke more than 6 cigarettes a day and drink less than 3 alcoholic drinks per day.
  • You have not been above 2,000 meters (over 6,500 feet) in the last 8 weeks.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
