Who can take part

  • Age between 18 and 90 years
  • Scheduled for surgery to fix a broken wrist (distal radius) with a plate and screws
  • Has at least one risk factor for severe pain, like strong pain before surgery, using strong pain medicines, depression or anxiety symptoms, or a serious fracture from a high-impact accident
  • No other arm surgeries or fractures on the same side in the past
  • No medical conditions (like seizures, kidney or liver problems, or bleeding issues) that would make the numbing procedure unsafe
