Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for planned (non-emergency) surgery on an arm or leg.
  • You are 18 years or older, and in good enough health (ASA I-III) to undergo surgery.
  • You are not allergic to any of the pain medicines used in the study (like ibuprofen, morphine, or ropivacaine).
  • You do not take strong painkillers (opioids) regularly for long-term pain.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder, nerve damage in the limb being operated on, or serious liver or kidney problems.
