Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old
  • You are scheduled for a first-time hip replacement on one side only
  • Your surgery will be done with spinal anesthesia
  • You can understand and use a 0-10 pain rating scale
  • You do not have any bleeding problems or take blood thinners that prevent nerve blocks
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or lower
