Who can take part

  • You have a shunt in your chest or neck that drains fluid from your brain.
  • The shunt is easy to feel through your skin and the skin on top is healthy (no open wounds or swelling).
  • You can provide consent yourself or have a legal representative do it.
  • For the part of the study that changes the valve: your valve has a 'virtual off' setting and you've had it adjusted before.
  • You are not allergic to silicone-based adhesives (like some bandages).
  • You haven't had any new or worsening symptoms of a shunt problem in the last week.
