Who can take part
- You are 18 to 70 years old.
- You have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder (type I or II) and are currently experiencing at least moderate depression.
- You are either not taking any bipolar medications, or have been on a stable dose for at least 1 month and plan to stay on that dose (or off meds) during the study.
- You have access to a regular psychiatrist or therapist before, during, and after the study.
- You can speak and understand English well enough to complete all study tasks.
- You do not have any metal implants or devices in your head or neck (like stents, pacemakers, or cochlear implants) and can safely have an MRI.
