Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older.
- You must be admitted to the ICU and critically ill.
- If you have sepsis, your infection and organ failure score must meet Sepsis-3 criteria.
- If you do not have sepsis, your infection and organ failure score must not meet Sepsis-3 criteria.
- You cannot have a known immune deficiency, HIV, active blood cancer, or a recent transplant.
- You cannot be taking certain immune-suppressing medications or immune checkpoint inhibitors.
- You must be able to provide consent yourself or have a legal representative do so.
