Who can take part
- You are 18 or older
- You have a growth (solid or cyst) in your pancreas that needs surgery
- The planned cut in your pancreas is at least 2 cm away from a nearby major vein (the SMV), as seen on a recent CT or MRI scan
- You are having surgery to remove the tail of your pancreas, with or without the spleen
- Your surgery can be done through small cuts (laparoscopic or robotic) or a larger opening
- You agree to take part and sign a consent form
- You do not have a serious health condition (ASA score 4 or higher) that makes surgery risky
- You are not pregnant
- You do not need emergency surgery
