Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 64 years old.
  • You had a spinal cord injury (not from a penetrating wound) at least 12 months ago that left you with some ability to move your legs but still causes walking problems.
  • Your comfortable walking speed is slower than 0.8 meters per second (about 1.8 miles per hour).
  • You are in otherwise good general health and can safely have the vagus nerve stimulator implanted.
  • You do not have any other implanted electrical devices like a pacemaker or deep brain stimulator.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study.
