Who can take part

  • You have been in the intensive care unit (ICU) for at least 72 hours (3 days).
  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are awake or lightly sedated, and an arterial blood sample can be taken.
  • You (or your family member) agree to take part in the study.
  • You do NOT have any existing pressure injuries (bedsores), skin sores, or a history of them.
  • You do NOT have diabetes or circulation problems.
