- You are 19 years of age or older.
- You are scheduled for a planned (not emergency) surgery that requires general anesthesia and a breathing tube.
- You do not have a history of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD, chronic heartburn or acid reflux).
- You have not had surgery or radiation to your upper airway (mouth, throat, or voice box).
- You do not have severely loose teeth that could be dislodged during the procedure.
- You are willing and able to provide informed consent.
