Who can take part

  • You have ARDS (a serious lung condition) and need extra oxygen (FiO₂ of 50% or more)
  • You are on a breathing machine (ventilator) right now
  • You have been on the breathing machine for less than 3 days
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are not already taking steroids or have a condition that prevents their use
  • You do not have uncontrolled internal bleeding or infection
