Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You must be in the ICU after a traumatic injury and on a breathing machine.
  • Doctors must expect you'll need the breathing machine for at least 7 days.
  • You cannot have a weak immune system (like from HIV, cancer, or AIDS).
  • No plan to stop life support within the first 5 days.
