App-guided breathing and exercise for high blood pressure

This study tests whether a smartphone app that guides you through slow breathing and aerobic exercise can help lower blood pressure in people with mild to moderate hypertension. You'll use the app at home and the goal is to see if this addition safely improves your numbers.

Who can take part

  • You are between 40 and 50 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with high blood pressure for at least 6 months but less than 5 years
  • Your blood pressure is in the range of 130-160 systolic (top number) or 80-100 diastolic (bottom number)
  • You have been on the same blood pressure medication for at least 4 weeks
  • Your doctor has cleared you for moderate exercise like walking
  • You do not have serious heart, lung, or joint problems that make exercise unsafe
