Who can take part
- You are between 6 and 17 years old and weigh at least 44 pounds (20 kg).
- You have been diagnosed with lupus (SLE) and have a kidney biopsy showing active inflammation (class III, IV, III+V, or IV+V).
- At screening, your 24-hour urine protein is at least 1 gram (or 25 mg per kg), or your urine protein-to-creatinine ratio is at least 1.0.
- Your white blood cell count is at least 3.0 and lymphocyte count at least 1.0 (standard blood test results).
- You have not received high-dose steroids by IV in the past, and any steroid use in the last 2 weeks has been limited to 30 mg prednisone per day (or 1 mg per kg per day) or less.
- You are willing to follow the study plan and have signed an informed consent form (parent or guardian consent if needed).
