Custom insoles vs foot exercises for flat-footed runners

This study compares two non-surgical treatments—custom shoe inserts and a foot-strengthening exercise program—to see which one improves running form more in runners with flat feet (pes planus). If you are a recreational runner age 18–30 with flat feet and no recent injuries, you may be able to join.

  • You run regularly for fun or fitness (not a professional athlete).
  • You are between 18 and 30 years old.
  • You have flat feet, confirmed by a foot posture test.
  • You have no heart or nerve conditions.
  • You have no chronic joint diseases like arthritis.
  • You have not had a running-related injury in the last 6 months.
