Improv comedy for anxiety and well-being in young Chinese adults

This study tests if attending improv comedy workshops can lower anxiety and boost mental well-being in young Chinese adults in Hong Kong. If you have mild to moderate anxiety and no mental health diagnosis, this low-pressure, fun activity might be a good fit.

Who can take part

  • Be ethnically Chinese and able to speak Mandarin and read Chinese
  • Never been married and have no children
  • Have no current or past mental health diagnosis
  • Feel mild to moderate anxiety (a brief questionnaire will confirm this)
  • No prior formal drama or performance training
  • Be able to attend at least 3 out of 4 weekly improv comedy sessions
