  • You are 75 years old or older.
  • You are in the hospital with a serious infection or inflammation (high CRP blood level).
  • You can agree to take part, or your family or authorized person can agree for you.
  • You do not have severe kidney, liver, or blood disorders, and have not had recent iron treatments or transfusions.
