Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You are scheduled for planned (not emergency) liver surgery with an incision in the upper belly.
  • You are in generally good health or have mild to moderate health conditions (ASA I-III).
  • You can understand and rate your pain on a 0-10 scale.
  • You do not have bleeding problems, infections at the injection site, or allergies to the study medications.
  • You are not pregnant, not severely obese (BMI over 40), and do not need oxygen at home.
