Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within the last 5 years.
- You have not taken diabetes medication for at least 8 weeks before starting the trial (or you have managed with diet and exercise for at least 8 weeks).
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 28 and 35.
- Your blood sugar control (HbA1c) is between 7.5% and 10.5%, and your fasting blood sugar is 15 mmol/L or lower.
- If you have high blood pressure, it must be well controlled (below 180/110 mmHg).
- You must agree to use effective contraception and follow the trial rules.
