Who can take part
- You must have moderate to severe asthma that is not well controlled despite using your current inhaler(s).
- You must have been using a medium or high dose of inhaled steroids for at least 1 year, with no change in dose for the last 3 months.
- You must also be taking at least one other asthma controller medication (like a long-acting bronchodilator or a leukotriene modifier) for at least 3 months.
- Your asthma symptoms must be significant, as measured by a standard questionnaire (score of 1.5 or higher).
- You cannot have had a severe asthma flare-up (requiring steroids or hospitalization) in the 2 weeks before the study starts.
- You must not be a current smoker, and if you are a former smoker, you must have quit for at least 6 months and have less than a 20 pack-year smoking history.
