Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are waiting in the hospital for a lung transplant surgery (one or both lungs).
  • Your health is stable enough to get out of bed and move around with help.
  • You have not had a prior organ transplant or chest surgery.
  • You do not have significant memory or thinking problems.
  • You do not have a nerve injury near your diaphragm or a muscle disorder.
  • You do not have a lower limb amputation, broken bone, open wound, or fixation device on your leg.
  • You are not severely overweight (BMI under 45).
