Ultrasound scan for descending aortic aneurysms

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have had a CT scan of your aorta previously.
  • You have either a known descending thoracic aortic aneurysm (including Type B dissection), or you have had a TEVAR procedure, or you are attending for routine ultrasound for another vascular condition and have a healthy descending aorta.
  • You can lie flat on your back for the scan.
  • You have not had any prior chest surgery and do not have severe chest deformities, fluid around the lungs, or chest wall trauma.
  • You do not have a life expectancy of less than 2 years and are not too frail to travel for routine appointments.
