Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You went to the emergency room with sudden chest, abdominal, or back pain that started within the last 2 weeks, or fainting, or signs of reduced blood flow to your limbs or brain
  • Your emergency room doctor thinks a tear in your aorta is possible based on your symptoms
  • You have not already been diagnosed with an aortic tear before this emergency room visit
  • You did not come to the hospital because of trauma or injury
  • You are able and willing to complete the full blood test and evaluation
