Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older and willing to take part in a 12-month study.
  • Your urine test at the health screening must show a higher-than-normal amount of protein (albumin), which is a sign of kidney strain.
  • You must live in a low-income area or get food from a food pantry because you can't always afford healthy food.
  • You cannot be on dialysis, have had a kidney transplant, or need one right now.
  • You cannot be pregnant or plan to become pregnant in the next year.
  • You cannot have very advanced kidney disease (stage 5) or very high urine protein levels.
