  • Your child must be between 1 month and 18 years old.
  • Your child is scheduled for colon surgery (such as for Hirschsprung's disease or other conditions) where the colon is removed and reconnected.
  • The surgery must be planned or semi-urgent, not an emergency.
  • You and your child must be able to attend follow-up visits.
  • Your child must not have low zinc levels in the blood before surgery.
