  • You are 50 years old or older
  • You are scheduled for hernia surgery on one side (not both)
  • You will have spinal anesthesia (numbing your lower body)
  • You are generally in good health (classified as ASA I-III)
  • You do not have certain heart rhythm problems or other serious conditions
