Who can take part

  • You must have evidence of heart muscle damage (e.g., elevated troponin levels, abnormal ECG, or wall motion abnormality on heart imaging) or be referred for a coronary angiogram.
  • You must not have significant anemia (hemoglobin level below 9).
  • If you will undergo an MRI or CT scan, you must be able to lie flat and remain still, and must not have certain metal implants or devices (e.g., pacemaker, defibrillator) unless proven safe for the scan.
  • If you will undergo MRI, you must not have a known allergy to gadolinium contrast agents.
  • If you will undergo CT angiography, you must not have a known allergy to iodinated contrast media or have severe kidney disease (eGFR less than 30).
