This study tests a new type of urinary catheter (called 'NowCath Foley') to see if it reduces infections and blockages compared to standard catheters. If you use a long-term catheter and are under community nursing care, this might be relevant for you.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have had a urinary catheter for at least 28 days.
  • You must expect to need the catheter for at least 6 more months.
  • You must not have taken antibiotics for a urinary tract infection in the last 48 hours.
  • You must be receiving care from community nursing in the Ikast-Brande or Holstebro areas.
  • You must not have an allergy to silicone or glycerin, and must not have a stent or planned urinary surgery.
