Who can take part
- You must be 18 years old or older.
- You must be in the intensive care unit (ICU) because of a severe infection (sepsis).
- Your lymphocyte count (a type of white blood cell) must be very low (less than 1,000 cells per microliter) on two tests 12 hours apart.
- The trial must start within 72 hours (3 days) of your sepsis diagnosis.
- You must be receiving standard care for sepsis, such as antibiotics and fluids.
- You cannot have severe liver failure, active cancer treatment, a recent stem cell transplant, an allergy to the study drug, be pregnant or breastfeeding, or be in another trial.
