Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis using standard criteria.
  • You do not already have a known thyroid problem.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have not taken medications that affect the thyroid (like amiodarone, lithium, or interferon) in the last 6 months.
  • You do not have other autoimmune diseases, kidney or liver disease, severe infections, or cancer.
  • You have not had thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine therapy.
