- You are in the hospital with dengue (with warning signs or severe dengue) and have a lab-confirmed dengue test.
- You are at least 16 years old and born in Vietnam (for the platelet substudy).
- You have a fever and a negative dengue test (for the control group).
- You have no history of recent illness (for the platelet control group).
- You have not taken certain blood-thinning or anti-inflammatory medicines in the past 7 days (if in the platelet substudy).
