Capsaicin-like drug for severe cancer pain

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have advanced cancer that has not responded to standard treatments (with pathology proof).
  • Your pain is cancer-related and very severe—an average “worst pain” score of 6 or more/10 on most days, measured at the chest level or lower.
  • You have tried other pain control options, but they were not effective, not appropriate, not tolerated, or you refused them.
  • You can safely get MRI scans and a catheter procedure, and you can return for follow-up for 30 days.
  • You have recent blood test results that meet clotting and platelet requirements, and you can stop blood thinners/antiplatelet meds for the catheter placement.
