Who can take part

  • You are between 60 and 80 years old.
  • You are usually inactive or, if you exercise, you have a highly trained routine.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 40.
  • You do not smoke.
  • You do not have diabetes, but you may have normal sugar levels or “impaired glucose tolerance” (mild pre-diabetes).
  • You must be willing and able to follow the study’s schedule, including exercise testing.
